2004 PONTIAC MONTANA - EXCITEMENT, VALUE AND VERSATILITY ALL IN ONE
Families don't come in one size or style … and neither does Montana. From the added safety of Montana Versatrak all-wheel drive, to the additional convenience of extended wheelbase versions, to the few-frills approach of the Special Value model, there's a Montana for nearly every need. For 2004, Montana gives customers seeking a value-laden vehicle the opportunity to transport their most precious cargo more comfortably.
Special Value model - short or long

Pontiac strives to offer exactly what customers want in a vehicle and that includes utility, comfort and safety. And for those families that need even extra seating capacity, there's the extended-wheelbase model. Ideal for families that require the extra room of the 121-inch (3,073-mm) wheelbase, this model offers seven-passenger seating with integral child seat, air conditioning, cruise control, programmable power door locks, AM/FM stereo with an in-dash CD player, and carpeted front and rear floor mats. Providing an even greater level of comfort are optional features such as the auxiliary air conditioning system for the rear seats, which includes rear-seat fan and temperature controls.
A 60/40 split-folding second-row bench seat is standard on regular- and extended-wheelbase Special Value models and features an integral child seat, providing a safe and convenient place for very young Montana passengers. The split-folding 60/40-bench seat offers greater flexibility, maximizing passenger- and cargo-carrying capability and facilitating access to Montana's third-row split bench seat.
Versatrak
Ideal for those who lead active lifestyles - or for anyone seeking the added safety of all-wheel drive -Versatrak is available on the extended wheelbase models. Versatrak is one of the most advanced approaches to all-wheel drive on the market today. Fully automatic, requiring no driver input, Versatrak directs torque to those wheels with the best traction - even if it's only one rear wheel. A drive module automatically senses the difference between the rotational speeds of front and rear tires in low-traction conditions. Before any significant slippage occurs, the pumps engage multi-plate clutches that provide drive to one or both rear wheels. After slippage ceases, the clutches disengage and the vehicle reverts to front-wheel drive.
Thunder Sport
The Thunder Sport appearance package returns for 2004. It's available on extended-wheelbase models (excluding the Special Value model) and consists of 16-inch chrome wheels, P225/60R16 tires, four-wheel independent suspension and self-leveling rear shocks. The Thunder Package also includes a unique two-tone leather interior, rear spoiler and special "Thunder" badging.
MP3 added to infotainment choices
Also available, and new for 2004, is an available CD/MP3 radio - just one of Montana's many entertainment and information choices. Montana's Gen III entertainment system, "MontanaVision," features a DVD player with wireless remote and two wireless headsets. Ideal for long and short trips, it keeps family members entertained for hours. The three auxiliary jacks enable passengers to use the DVD player, the radio and the CD player - all at the same time. The system features a 7-inch (178-mm) video screen that folds out of the way when not in use as well as on-screen programming. Also available on selected models is an AM/FM stereo system with a six-disc, in-dash CD changer, Radio Data System (RDS), steering wheel-mounted radio controls and rear-seat audio controls.
Montana continues to offer the added safety, security and convenience of OnStar (U.S. and Canada only). All Montana models offer one year of OnStar's Safe & Sound service. OnStar is the nation's leading provider of in-vehicle safety, security and information services using the Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite network and wireless technology. OnStar services include automatic notification of air-bag deployment, stolen vehicle location, remote door unlock, emergency services dispatch, roadside assistance, remote diagnostics, route support and convenience services. OnStar Personal Calling allows drivers to make and receive hands-free, voice-activated phone calls through a nationwide network in cooperation with Verizon Wireless. Virtual Advisor gives subscribers access to personalized information in a hands-free, voice-activated manner with no screens or displays.
Durable, dependable 3400 V-6
All Montana models are powered by the proven 3400 V-6 - one of the most durable and dependable engines offered in any minivan - with excellent combined city and highway fuel economy. The 3.4L overhead valve V-6 produces 185 horsepower (137 kw) at 5200 rpm, and 210 lb.-ft. (284 Nm) of torque at 4000 rpm - plenty of power to get a fully loaded Montana moving with ease. The 3.4L is mated to an electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission.
